This Saturday I went canvassing with Peninsula Conservatives around the East Greenwich Pleasaunce. It was good to meet so many positive people and to discuss the issues which affect them.
On Tuesday this week Spencer visited the Charlton Lido where he spoke with members of the swimming club which are still using it for training in the mornings. Spencer is pictured with Vernon, a member of Greenwich Tritons (triathletes) who trains in the pool. The pool is pictured just prior to the swimming club cleaning it.
Last weekend Spencer joined Greenwich West Conservatives - including Mary Harries (third from left) and Simon Gallie (fifth from left) - as they canvassed opinion on the Coldbath Estate. Alright it was my mum - but she was interested!
On a more serious note, I think it is great to have the navy celebrating the centenary of naval aviation in Greenwich. We have such a fantastic borough and with so many historic links to the navy and artillery that it is nice to be reminded of what that actually means. I hope our troops felt the respect in which they are held by the residents of Greenwich that I meet and our admiration for the job they do.
The journalist who phoned me said that the Council's press office had initially denied that the intention had ever been to shut the playground over this Bank Holiday weekend, however, as she had a photo she could put them right. So in anticipation of a Pravda style justification in Greenwich Time next week here is the photo of the opening times as advertised this week although they may be airbrushed out of existence soon.
On Saturday Greenwich West Conservatives carried out a survey to see how people in their area had been hit by the recession. The results were fascinating and in addition, there was substantial comment about the traffic problems in the area at present.
